What is a 2FA Code Generator?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by requiring a time-based one-time password (TOTP) in addition to your regular password. This generator creates 6-digit codes that refresh every 30 seconds, compatible with any service that supports Google Authenticator, Authy, or standard TOTP protocols.
Why use a browser-based TOTP generator?
Unlike mobile authenticator apps, this tool runs entirely in your browser with no downloads required. Your secret keys are stored locally and never transmitted to any server. You can also securely share TOTP entries with others using end-to-end encrypted links, making it easy to set up shared accounts without exposing the raw secret.
How TOTP works
TOTP codes are generated using a shared secret key and the current time. The algorithm (defined in RFC 6238) combines your secret with the current 30-second time window using HMAC-SHA1 to produce a unique 6-digit code. Because both your device and the service know the secret and the time, they can independently generate and verify the same code without any network communication.
